In 2024, the Université de Montréal will continue to offer the Intensive French Program to non-French-speaking students. The goal? To obtain level B2—the intermediate to advanced knowledge of French—required to enter the study program of your dreams at UdeM.
Our goal is to advance students from level B1 to B2 in four months, as well as learning French, they'll get to know the university community, grasp terminology in various fields of study and discover Montreal.

Once you've successfully completed the intensive program, you won't have to take an external language test when you apply for admission to the study program you’d like.
Plunge into French immersion
To deepen your French proficiency and understand the subtleties of the world's 5th most widely spoken language, you'll be immersed in 300 hours of intensive French courses based on innovative, effective teaching practices.
Spread over five modules, the course combines videoconferences, independent exercises and coaching in small groups or one-on-one. The program requires about 30 hours of work per week.
The program's small-group approach to learning and its intensive format create an immersive learning environment and an opportunity to forge meaningful relationships.
